Soapcast - Americana Artist Profile: Steven Lang

Summer means another slew of Soapcasts. I’m now in my fifth year of producing the (now officially award-winning) podcast.

This batch of conversations for the Americana exhibition was a real joy to put together. All the artists were extremely excited about their work and forthcoming with great anecdotes.

Posted above is an example, my piece with photographer Steven Lang.

If you’re MPLS local, check out the show before it closes next month.

The listeners have spoken, apparently.

The Soapcast, the podcast that I’ve been producing and editing for the past three years for the Soap Factory gallery was just voted Best Local Podcast by Minnesota Monthly.

Very cool and very flattering. Thanks!

Here’s the newest edition of the Soapcast, profiling the co-directors of the 2012 Soap Factory Volunteer Biennial, KnownUnKnowns.

The opening is on Saturday night and I’m very excited for it because it will feature a brand new video installation of mine entitled 'The Problems'.

From TSF’s website:

Taking cues from social, political, and personal experiences, KnownUnKnowns examines the search for truth and the fragility of that which we believe to be real. This exhibition of local artists will showcase a wide range of media including painting, photography, installation, video, and interactive works. From a memory-shredding machine to a simulated experience of life on another planet, the featured artists take a variety of approaches to push boundaries and decipher the nature of knowledge.

Hope to see you there!

The first of many Soapcasts that I will be producing for The Soap Factory gallery in Minneapolis.

This ‘cast covers the Common Room 2010 project, a gathering together of disparate folks at the Soap over the month of August to facilitate community building. Co-curators Andy Sturdevant and Sergio Vucci discuss where each event came from and what they hope to accomplish with these happenings.
